Comment exprimons-nous nos sentiments et émotions en anglais ? Dans notre vie quotidienne, nous réagissons à chaque événement à travers nos émotions et nos sentiments. Il est important de pouvoir exprimer ce que vous aimez ou pas, ainsi que vos émotions. Dans cette leçon, nous étudierons différents types d’émotions que nous ressentons chaque jour.
Quelles sont les émotions en anglais ?
On utilise des adjectifs pour dire comment quelqu’un se sent. On peut utiliser les verbes be ou feel.

| bored | ennuyé(e) | I was a little bored in class today so I started drawing. |
| confused | confus(e) | Are you confused about what you’ve read? |

| happy | heureux / heureuse | We’re happy that we passed the exam. |
| hungry | affamé(e) | The children are hungry. They want their dinner. |
| kind | gentil / gentille | Mr Chang is very kind to us. |
| sad | triste | We’re sad to hear the news about your dog. |
| surprised | surpris(e) | I was surprised at the gift he gave me. |
| thirsty | assoiffé(e) | I need more water. I’m so thirsty. |
| tired | fatigué(e) | I can’t run anymore. I’m so tired. |
| upset | bouleversé(e) | He’s upset that I didn’t go with him at the party. |
| worried | inquiet / inquiète | She was worried when we didn’t call her. |
On peut également parler de l’état des personnes en utilisant des adjectifs avec be et feel :
I felt about cold so I put on my jacket.
We were hot so we opened the window.
They felt ill after eating all that food.
I don’t feel well today.

Comment exprimons-nous goûts, dégoûts, espoirs et préférences en anglais ?
LOVE, LIKE, HATE, PREFER, HOPE
I love my family as much as I love my job.
I like my new haircut.
I don’t like romantic films. or I dislike romantic films. (dislike est moins courant)
I love my job, but I hate my boss.
Remarque : Quand on utilise very much / a lot avec (don’t) like, cela se place toujours après le complément.
I don’t like coffee very much.
She likes David very much, but she doesn’t love him.
We like that restaurant a lot.

Comment utiliser PREFER dans une phrase en anglais ?
Avec le verbe prefer, on utilise la préposition to. On utilise aussi le verbe en gérondif -ing (doing).

I prefer coffee to tea.
I prefer running to walking. |
I prefer this bag to that bag you’re holding.
During the weekends, I prefer sleeping to going out.
Quand nous parlons d’habitudes que nous préférons, nous pouvons utiliser le verbe à l’infinitif (to do).
Sherry prefers to study on her own rather than with other people.
I prefer to go to the gym before work.
Comment utiliser WANT dans une phrase en anglais ?

Comment utiliser HOPE dans une phrase ?
